Mezes Greek Grill Menu

Sorry, We are updating this restaurant menu details.

Mezes is as good as it gets. They really go the extra mile. First off, the food is great. The fries -- especially the Greek fries -- are amazing, as is the yogurt sauce they put on their gyros. But my favorite thing about Mezes is the ownership and employees. Every time I go in, they find a new way to make my day. From asking how my meal is to spontaneously dropping fresh-off-the-spit gyro meat onto my plate for me to taste, despite the fact that I'm already halfway through a gyro. One time, they even served me dinner when my credit card was declined, saying that they trusted I would come back to pay another day.

Whoohoo Mezes! Delicious, fresh, fast, casual. My favorite part is Aphrodite greeting me when I walk in :) Place is always sparkling clean, or someone is working away at making it that way! The food presents really beautifully, actually-- one of the best looking gyros I've ever seen. Love that open face style. Yummy fries, and the bowls are great. This place is on its way to becoming an Ann Arbor staple!

For the price its the best gyro in town, and fast service adds to the value. For such a small restaurant, Mezes packs a punch with food for the whole family. Even if you don't like gyros you can still go there with friends and get a burger or a salad. I went there and found the service good and the food better. 10/10 would recommend

Great place! Came here for lunch after an awful experience at Ashley's. The seating outside was full, so we were concerned that we wouldn't be able to find seats. However there was plenty of room inside for the four of us. The food was excellent, from the gyros to the fries to the salads. The prices are quite reasonable, all of the staff friendly and eager to serve. Food came up promptly and we devoured it with pleasure.

Server very nice and I suspect that's a big reason why his place is so highly rated (particularly since he's so insistent that you give him good ratings on yelp), but the food is not that good. Gyro was tough and dry (in their defense it's pieces of meat rather than ground meat, but I much prefer the ground meat kind - it's more flavorful and softer), chicken was also dry. Fries were mediocre. To their credit it's cheap and again the service was good/nice, but that doesn't outweigh the underwhelming food

This place has the best gyros in town, hands down. The meat is always perfectly seasoned, and is never dried out like at other places. The veggies on the gyro are crisp and fresh, and the yogurt sauce is the perfect amount of tang. This place lives up to the hype. As to the more nuts and bolt points: the price is good, the portions are filling, the restaurant is clean, and the service is friendly.

I had the pleasure of meeting Stavros at Mezes today. He showed me the attention and care that he puts into the food, and made sure that my girlfriend and I do not have any food allergies. I loved how passionate he was about the food and the shop, and truly wish him the best in his endeavors. Now for the meat of this review. The food is absolutely fantastic. The best gyro I've had in Ann Arbor. You can taste the freshness of each part of the gyro. The textures and flavors are amazing, as they work in harmony to create an experience in your mouth. And the fries are to die for. Hand cut and made fresh daily, the fries are crispy and perfectly seasoned. I dare say it's the best fries I've had in Ann Arbor. Go try it yourself. Talk to the people. I guarantee you'll enjoy it.

This is a great place! The gyro bowl and rice pudding were delicious! The owner and employees are really nice and friendly! This place is awesome and welcoming to newcomers to Ann Arbor!

Had the gyro with a Greek salad. Salad was standard but the beef/lamb gyro was outstanding. Will definitely eat here again.

My boyfriend and I stepped into Mezes for a late lunch, and we both got two huge plates of food (him, a gyro sandwich & fries & salad; me, a Greek salad with chicken) that powered us through dinner. The food was delicious (especially that chicken!), and Kirk (the owner) entertained us with lively conversation. We ended our meal with delicious & warm baklava that Kirk gave us on the house. The quick food options near campus are mostly major chains, and it is great to see another option that is local and has a community feel to it. We'll be back.

Mezes gets crowded really fast during lunchtime, and they're always sold out of spinach pie...but it's easy to see why: it's so damn good! Their fries in particular are quickly scooting to the top of my "Best Fries in Ann Arbor" list. Hand-cut spears of thick skin-on potato? Ohhhh yesss. Do spend the extra dolla and get them "Greek" style, with chunks of feta cheese and whole black olives. Addicting! The homemade avgolemono soup isn't your usual coney joint's thick yellow goop--this stuff is subtle, tangy, and filling despite its light consistency. And it comes with really good grilled Greek bread. I've watched the meats as they rotate on their spits, and they look like REAL meats (especially the glisteny, crispy-edged lamb). I bet they taste delicious. Note to self: Must. Try. Souvlakia. Soon. One downer: they don't always have spinach pie during the lunch rush. The staff are really friendly and nice too. Be prepared to wait in line!

Ann Arbor has needed a place that does gyros well for a long time, this place has finally answered. The only reliable place to get an ok gyro in the past was Ahmo's. As good as it can be at times, it never crossed into the upper tier of restaurants. Mezes does exactly that. I came for the first time after not eating all day, so my review may be a bit biased because of hanger. I was greeted by the owner Dimitri and recommended to try the Greek salad and fries with my chicken gyro that I wanted. The gyro did not disappoint. The chicken was perfectly cooked with lettuce, onion, and tomato topped with a few fries on a perfectly toasted pita. The sandwich was packed full of flavor and had a hefty portion of meat in it. The Greek salad had definitely home made dressing, with fresh ingredients and a slice of toast accompanying. The fries were perfectly done, and carved from potatoes in house. I recommend eating them dipped in the spicy feta. They also deliver and are great for carry out. The owners were telling me that they also do catering. Overall: this is the addition that Ann Arbor needs. A fantastic place for Greek food close to campus. I love when restaurants keep it simple and focus on fresh ingredients and do a few things well. I will definitely be back.

Lamb and beef gyro was delicious and bursting with meat (a ++++ if you're a meathead like me). The staff was super friendly too and gave us free (freshly cut) fries! Definitely recommend -- you get your money's worth of food.

Best Greek food in Ann Arbor for around $5. The chicken souvlakia is both healthy and delicious. Would definitely recommend the fries with feta and the spinach pie. Loved the downstairs seating area with TV and WiFi - great place to study!

Excellent food, fast and inexpensive. The baklava was fantastic! Definitely recommend them for lunch or dinner.

  • Fran A.

Very cheap, fast and delicious. We had the greek fries (feta was so good), pork souvlaki, spanakopita, huge and delicious, and a giant baklava. All for about $22.

  • Priyanka D.

These 5 stars are for the delightful lamb and beef gyros, baklava and hummus. Delicious food. Small place. They need to start serving felafel.

  • Tony L.

Chicken souvlakia was good, but the beef kebab was superb; great flavor and very tender/juicy. Spinach pie was also probably the best-tasting I've had, although it was pricey and it would be nice if they offered a smaller portion. Wish they would offer something other than the fries that accompany pretty much everything on the menu; they didn't allow substitutions when I asked.

I decided to go here after a client who visits from Greece told me that it was legit Greek food. I've never been to Greece, but I like good food, and they certainly have it. It's a super casual, order at the counter type of place, and the prices are cheap. You get a ton of food, and I actually think it's worth much more than they charge, but whatever works for them, is good for me. Baklava is amazing, flaky and wonderful, and not too sweet- I will have to try the spinach pie next visit.

Soo good. Food is fantastic. Get the Greek fries and chicken. They need to expand their menu soon

Honestly, I have nothing but great things to say about Mezes. Not only is their food amazing, but everyone who works there is so friendly and hospitable! I can say this with absolute certainty because I work right across from them and I can see how they treat ALL their customers with respect and kindness. I feel like customer service is just as important as the quality of the food, and these guys nail both. The owner especially is a wonderful guy, and you can tell how much he loves the place through his interactions with all the customers. I get the lamb and beef gyro with fries whenever I go and it's always delicious. One thing I noticed was that they put one or two fries in your gyro, which I thought was an accident my first time, but that's how they make them and it's always a nice surprise haha! Another great thing is that they don't skimp on portions, so be prepared to be very full but satisfied when you're done. If you haven't tried Mezes before, go for it. They make everything they serve, it's reasonably priced, the service is amazing, and the food is delicious...I mean, what more can you ask for?

SETTING: Small place with mostly barstool-type seating along the windows. Few tables in the middle. More of a takeout or quick dining experience. Not much for decor. No frills, just focuses on making their Greek food. FOOD: Got the lamb and beef gyro. Meat was a bit chewy/dry and not really tender. Seasoning was good though. The veggies in the gyro were not skimped on and balanced out the meat portions. Sauce was not too thick and on the more liquid side. Heard the fries are good here, and I believe it. I had 2-3 fries in my gyro (most likely mixed in by accident) and they tasted pretty good! Thanks for the free sample! SERVICE: Order at the register, and the cooks will place it on the counter by the kitchen once ready. Self serve for everything else. I could tell the owner was proud of this place. A patron gave him compliments, and he proudly said, "Thank you! Everything we serve is made here!" Seeing others living the American dream is a special thing to witness. IMPRESSIONS: I love gyros, and I had high hopes for this place, with how highly it is rated. To me, the meat is the main component of the gyro. Because it wasn't as tender as I would have liked, I couldn't rate it too highly. Please make it more moist and tender! This place has potential, so I may come back to try again or another item on the menu.

This place is really tasty. I ordered the lamb and beef gyro and you can tell the ingredients are fresh. The meat was slightly chewy but very juicy and flavorful. The fries are amazing. According to an employee here, they're hand cut and go through a special bleaching process. Whatever it is, they're divine. Best fries I've had in Ann Arbor. I also ordered the cafe frappe which was an iced Greek coffee drink that somehow remained foamy the entire time. It was refreshing, unique, and not too sugary. I recommend it. The rice pudding, which isn't on the menu, is delicious here! It's not mushy and is flavored generously with cinnamon but not so that it's overwhelming. If you like a good rice pudding, try it here. Very sweet employees, too. Definitely a favorite.

I found this place on yelp and had to try it, I'm glad that I did. I love Greek food and have often been disappointed in the Ann Arbor area with the imitation Gyro's but this place is authentic. Almost as good as the gyro's in Greece. I walked in and was immediately greeted by the owner. He discussed the menu with me and informed me that I was in for a treat because everything was freshly made. I ordered a chicken gyro and fries (for a great price!) and received it very quickly. I took my order to-go and ate it at home. My Gyro was amazing! The chicken and yogurt sauce were so good! I was not disappointed with my visit to Mezes at all! Can't wait to go and visit again soon!

My wife and daughter and I stopped by this place for dinner after reading some of the great reviews here. I'll join the chorus and say that they make some very fresh, delicious food here at very reasonable prices. My picky 11 yr old loved her spinach pie and soup. My wife and I loved our gyros, which is NOT your generic stuff you get from cheap hot dog stands, that for sure! Wayyyy better, with some nice browning, yet still juicy. And the cinnamon-y baklava was excellent too. But you know what was just as good as the food? The amazingly friendly service. The exuberant owner was behind the counter, and he and I had a nice chat about our old Ann Arbor days and working in the restaurant biz. No, he actually wasn't an old friend of mine, but he felt like one.

This is by far the best Greek food I've had to date. I was never a big fan of spanakopita but this one is out of this world! The biggest surprise was daco salad. Something so simple and tastes so amazing! And for these prices! The owners are super nice as well, which I am sure has everything to do with the quality of this place. 5 stars all the way!

Good quality chicken meat. Had the chicken gyro + fries + drink meal for $10

They've got a really great food! It's delicious, portion is filling, and the price is really fair. Also, their staff are really friendly. The restaurant is also placed on a great location in downtown ann arbor. If u wanna a great food try it and dont miss it!

Hands down the best gyro you can ever get in this side of the ocean. I can vouch for the authenticity of all the food here. Great people great food. I recommend this place to everyone i know. Treat yourself to an amazing lunch or dinner.

This place wants to be sure you leave happy. If you are not totally satisfied, let them know. They will do what needs to be done to ensure your satisfaction. The hummus contains no tahini, so expect a taste that's out of the ordinary. It was unlike any I have ever had before. The spinach pie was very flaky on the outside. I love the young man behind the counter, he was friendly and attentive and went out of his way to see if there was anything else I needed. Makes me love Ann Arbor that much more. Great town.

I will add my praise for this informal and wonderful restaurant. We stopped here for dinner during A2SF, leaving the crowds (and tickets) behind two blocks away. The food was very good. We had the french fried with gyro meat (rated ridiculously good by my companion) and the Caesar salad with gyro meat. We ate outside crowd watching and a few others stopped at Mezes based on our enjoyment of the meal. Nothing fancy . . . just reasonably priced very good food.

  • Amy C.

A solid place for a meal if you're looking for quick/fresh options on-the-go. There isn't too much room for dining in, but the wait time is pretty short so I usually just stop in to grab something then eat elsewhere. Tried the gyro here and it was good, but didn't stick out to me as anything exceptional. However, the service here is FANTASTIC. Everyone in the store is so friendly and helpful. It was easy to strike up a conversation with one of the employees during the short wait for the food, and I'll definitely stop by again just for the people.

So happy to have stumbled upon this restaurant today. We had the gyro and spinach pie. Both excellent. The food is rivaled by the customer service! Wow what a friendly place. We were brought some delicious fries and sampled some of the best olive oil out there. Happy they sold it. I will definitely return to Ann Arbor just to eat here. It's worth the drive for the amazing food and friendly staff.

Grabbed lunch here with some friends yesterday's. The manager (owner?) was super nice to us and attentive (we were be only ones there in the late afternoon). Got the chicken gyros plate for $10. So. Much. Food. The gyros was delicious--the best I've had. The fries were actually really good too. The gyros was honestly enough for a meal. With the fries I was stuffed. I couldn't eat my piece of bread and salad but I saved it for later. All in all a great experience and I will definitely be coming back!

I have nothing but compliments for Mezes Greek Grill. their food is delicious and taste authentic! You will not find a better gyro in town. The service is very fast if you are looking for a timely meal. The menu is a bit much but my server explained every detail and I was able to make the perfect decision based off of his suggestions. The restaurant is sparkling clean and that is always the first thing I notice whenever I am in a new location!

I sincerely can't believe that this place has anything less than a five star review. Truly proves how crazy everyone really is. The food here is some of the best food I have ever had in my life! The sanitation is impeccable! They have to be one of the cleanest places I have eaten at. The food is almost indescribable! I said almost. I have never had a salad that has had fresher ingredients. The lettuce was so crisp and the feta was divine like Zeus had delivered it direct! And I have never had olive oil as fresh and delectable as I have had at Mezes. The best part is you can buy it right in their shop. For a beyond reasonable price. I would pay double for it. What really surprised me is the cheeseburger. I never would have imagined I could get a cheeseburger at a Greek joint BUT you can get an American version or you can get a Greek version! I recommend both. They cut the potatoes they use for fries right there on site and they double grind the meat they use for the burgers! They have rice pudding that should be truly considered a schedule 1 drug. I have never had anything so effing amazing in my mouth. They Greek guy from N.Y.C. that works there came up with that one! I love how crispy the spinach pie is, I think the crispiness is absolutely key. I also really like their hummus. Its different but it's a perfect different, you can tell it's made in house and not in a factory. Everyone who works there is super personable, nice and actually pretty cool. This place is a true gem in Ann Arbor, a locally owned gem! Its places like this that make Ann Arbor the amazing place that it is. BEST GREEK FOOD IN THE NORTH AMERICA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love mezes! Ann Arbor was severely lacking in Greek cuisine before this place came along. The staff is friendly and the food is authentic and delicious. Try souvlaki and Greek salad.

Had high hopes for this place, but was somewhat disappointed. Meat was dry on both dishes we ordered (we had the chicken and the beef/lamb gyros). Some of the workers are very nice (person who took our money), but others were not very friendly (someone preparing the food rolled her eyes at us when we asked for our salad dressing on the side). Probably won't be back here.

  • Al C.

Came in for a quick bite for a late lunch. I ordered a beef and lamb gyro that was delicious. The meat wasn't like the typical slices of packed gyro meat, but was real meat. It was grilled, a bit crispy on the outside, but still juicy. Portions were decent, the tzatziki was good and the bread was tasty. Atmosphere was good for a quick bite, laid back, you can sit down if you want to. The service was good and friendly. Looking forward to coming back.

  • Sarah B.

Awesome! We were looking for a good restaurant that wasn't too expensive. This place is amazing! You order at the register and take your head to the table (no waiter). We got the lamb and beef plate and the chicken souvlaki plate. They were both delicious! You also get so much. We paid about $21 and received two Greek salads, two slices of toasted bread, fries, the two wraps and two drinks. The staff was also very friendly. After we had finished, a worker came out and talked to us, asking how it tasted and also told us some information on where there food comes from. It's all local!! It is definitely a place to go to if you're in the area and want an inexpensive, yet delicious menu

Absolutely fantastic! Every aspect of our meal was superb. Extremely friendly staff and owner took the time to make sure we understood the menu. Had the gyro and spinach pie and you can tell everything is made from scratch. Fantastic rice pudding for dessert really made the meal as well. Can't recommend higher!

  • Steve J.

My girlfriend and I are from out of town and strolled into mezes Greek grill. We were greeted by the friendly owner who took our order, we ordered the spinach pie which absolutely melted in our mouths, the soup avgolemono which came with our combo was perfectly paired and just because there's two of us we also ordered the hummus and dolmathes which also was a combo, both delightful and just enough for us to split as a light healthy meal. As we were finishing up our meal we were given a taste of the homemade rice pudding which was also delicious! Recommend this place to all, you won't be disappointed!

Eat dinner here last night. Had just gotten into A2 after a 12 hour drive. First time here and it was GREAT!!! Love our dinner. Owner is a really nice guy who seemed to really care about the food they are serving. A+++ place!

The Gyros plate was tasty. It came with a nice Greek salad and crispy skin on fries. The Lentil soup filled with carrots also hit the spot. We were in town for the Folk Fest and looking for casual nearby place to eat We are happy we chose Mezes. The staff was very friendly.

  • Laura W.

Fantastic food and service. I have never had a burger so well prepared and the gyros are amazing. I was impressed with the service and how the owners came out from behind the grill and talked with us. I thought it was ever more fantastic when the guys working offered the young teen sitting on a bench outside with no coat (it was a very chilly day) to wait inside and have an order of fries.

So fast for delivery! Gyro was delicious and so was the baklava! I will definitely be eating here more often. Great first experience.

Absolutely amazing. My boyfriend and I walked in around 7 and were greeted by the owner immediately. When we told him that it was our first time there, he told us to sit down at the end of the counter, he was going to surprise us. From there, it was a pretty surreal experience. The food was by FAR the best Greek food ever had, the employees were friendly and engaging, the food was prepared quickly, and the price is unbelievably cheap for the quality. The food alone is worth a visit, but it is the people and service that makes this place our favorite in town. I highly recommend!!

After bringing my previous problem to Mezes attention, they responded within 24 hours. Instead of making me charge back the order, they offered to let my husband to pick up a refund in the amount of our order. They also gave us a huge bottle of olive oil from Greece along with a sincere apology. My husband said the food looked really good and I am sure we will be back to try it once we are finished with holiday leftovers. I am very impressed with the professional way they handled their error and provided excellent customer service, which is why I am giving 5 stars. I will post another update once we try the food :) Thank you, Mezes!

This is by far my favorite restaurant in Ann Arbor. The food is incredibly fresh and delicious. Everyone that works there is super friendly, and always offers to let us try their new menu items. Everything on their menu is amazing - especially their hand cut Greek fries (and obviously the Greek salad)!

Soulvakia is really good. They have their own farm so the have their own meats. None from big companies. Kirk and crew are very hospitable. I found this business through the Hooked app. Glad I stopped by.

Tried this place out the other night with some of my friends. I ordered the chicken gyro and regular fries, one of my friends who is vegetarian ordered the greek fries and a vegetarian gyro, while my other friend ordered a plate that came with salad, bread, and a gyro. I'm not an expert on authentic Greek cuisine, but the consensus between the three of us was that the food was great and left us feeling full. Even better? The service. The two men working were so incredibly friendly and funny, and the wait for our food was not long at all. We even (unknowingly) kept them right up until close, but there was never any pressure to leave or feeling like they wanted to kick us out. Prices were on point, location is convenient. Would definitely come again!
